Floral Fantasy Box

Hope you're all enjoying the good weather we've being having recently. 

Today I'm sharing a project I made some time ago using the Fantasy Floral stamps. The Buddleia is a gorgeous flower that attracts butterflies and this is why it's commonly known as the Butterfly Bush. 

Materials

MDF box

Indigoblu Stamps - Floral Fantasy, Rugged Edge

Stazon Black & Vibrant Violet

IndigoBlu acrylic paint - Lime Marmalade, Coastal Walk, Wimberry Pie, Aladdin 

IndigoBlu Stencils - Laurel Leaves & Texture

IndigoBlu White Gesso

IndigoBlu fine paste

IndigoBlu Slap-it-on Gloss

IndigoBlu Diamond glaze

IndigoBlu stamping card

Seed beads

 

Divide an A4 card into 4 sections to create the background for the sides of the box and paint with the

Lime Marmalade, Coastal Walk and Wimberry Pie. 

Apply white Gesso with a palette knife to create texture and lines and add Lime Marmalade through the Texture stencil. 

Stamp the butterflies and the lilac flower in Violet and Black. Create circles using the top of a water mister bottle dipped in white Gesso. Cut each section into 92mmx36mm for the box side and 92mmx19mm for the lid side.

Create another background (94mmx94mm) for the lid of the box using the same colours as before and stamp the lilac flower in Black. Stamp an additional flower using Wimberry Pie, cut out and decoupage the main image. Apply fine paste through the leaves and circle Texture stencil. 

Use Slap It On to adhere beads randomly to the lilac flower. Stamp a border to the lid background with the Rugged Edge Stamp. Stamp two small butterflies one in Violet and the other Black and paint with Wimberry Pie and Aladdin. Cut out and adhere to the box lid.

Using Slap It On adhere all the backgrounds to the sides of the box and lid. Randomly apply Korma Crackle. Once its dry paint the inside of the box with Aladdin and stamp a butterfly using white Gesso to the inside of the base and lid. Finally apply Diamond Glaze to the top of the box to encase the beads and give it a gloss finish.

Stamp Focus | Building A Wreath with Marigold And Peony

Today Ksenija is here and I am sharing a wreath card made with Marigold and Peony red rubber stamps set.

Marigold and Peony stamps set is a part of the recent release from IndigoBlu and is perfect for making floral cards.

This set contains four individual stamps which are easy to use for building various floral designs. I would like to explain how to easily stamp a perfectly aligned floral wreath.

To stamp a symmetrical wreath of flowers you will need a square piece of a card stock, a stamp positioning tool, e.g. MISTI, and a masking paper.

How To Make This Card:

• Place a square piece of a card stock in your stamp positioning tool in the lower left corner and position a flower stamp also in the lower left corner.
• Stamp the flower down onto a paper in black watercolour friendly ink.
• Rotate the card panel by 90 degrees counterclockwise and stamp the flower again.
• Repeat this step twice and you will get four flowers stamped in each corner of the card panel aligned perfectly.
• Stamp down the flower onto a piece of a masking paper twice and fussy cut out two masks.
• Mask off two flowers onto a panel with the paper masks and place the panel into your stamp positioning tool.
• Position a flower stamp between two masked off flower impressions and stamp it down onto the panel.
• Reposition one of the masks to the third flower and rotate the panel within the stamping tool by 90 degrees counterclockwise and stamp the flower between two masked off flowers.
• Repeat this step twice to get the full wreath of flowers.

Masking is a great technique for adding details without paper layers. I replaced the masks several times and added leaves and smaller flowers impressions.

I coloured the wreath with watercolour markers and added accents with water diluted Luscious Pigment Powders in Gold and Silver.

To finish off my card I heat embossed the phrase from Floral Fantasy stamps set in fine white powder onto a piece of a black card stock and cut it into three thin stripes.

To assemble the card I adhered the stamped panel to a black card base and popped the sentiment stripes up with a foam tape.

Hot Air Balloon

Hello everyone! It's Solange Marques here!
This month at IndigoBlu its all about stories.
My story is about a hot air balloon. I like to think of balloons as the imagination, It can fly high, over seas, fields or mountains and see the world from above. Then they come back and land on the ground back to a reality.
I like to imagine myself  flying in one of these balloons and feel the wind take me through the blue sky through endless landscapes.

I've used IndigoBlu Damaged Dots Mixed Media Paper Pad.
I've applied embossing powder on Grand Tour III stamp:

On the top of the balloon I've used IndigoBlu Floral Fantasy stamp.

I've also used IndigoBlu Vintage Flourish A6:

Country House | Creating a Focal Element

Hello Everyone and Welcome! Today Ksenija is here, and I am excited to share with you a new project featuring Country House stamp from the latest IndigoBlu release. Previously I demonstrated how to use a complete impression of this stamp, while today I will show you how to create a focal element.

For my background I used IndigoBlu 6 x 6 inches stencil Roses. It covers the standard card panel (5 1/2 x 4 inches) completely. I blended Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Barn Door. Then I distressed the edges of the panel with Antique Linen and Black Soot Distress inks.

To create a focal element I inked Country House rubber stamp in archival black ink and stamped it down to an oval watercolour paper die cut. I did not want to colour it carefully, so I just smeared Antique Linen Distress ink directly with an ink pad across the impression and added shades with a water brush using Walnut Stain Distress ink.

I love adding a little bit of interest with a different texture. I stamped an ivy hanging over the door in FlitterGlu down to a piece of watercolour paper and covered the impression with Chariot of Fire Mega Flakes. Then I coloured the ivy with watercolour markers and fussy cut it out. To mask white fresh cut edges I distressed them slightly with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

To finish off my card I adhered the oval element and stamped the sentiment from Floral Fantasy stamp set in black dye ink and added a few border elements from Tiny Backgrounds stamp set.

To assemble my card I used a foam tape to raise the panel and an ivy over the door. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy this card and will give a try to Country House stamp in your next project.

Fabric Fantasy

Hi everyone and welcome! Jenny here to share a new project with you today. Before getting started, a big thank you to everyone who tuned in to see my first Hochanda shows and to everyone who took the time to catch up with Kay, Elizabeth, Cheremane and myself at the Port Sunlight show last weekend. It's always special to share our passion for all things IndigoBlu. If you missed out remember that the IndigoBlu 5th Birthday Open Day will take place at Retford on Monday 30th May!!! Now for that new project - I'm building on the stamping on fabric ideas I shared on tv, translating them to card making. Here's the finished card...

And here's how it came together; start with a piece of fabric, stuck to a card base with Fabric Slap It On and stitched to create a border. Then stamp the half doily shape from the Floral Fantasy stamp set using Wimberry Pie Acrylic Paint.

Stamp the large butterfly three times from the same stamp set onto more fabric using Wimberry Pie again, sticking them onto packaging using the Fabric Slap It On. When dry cut out, mould with your heat gun and edge with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Stamp one of the sentiments from the Floral Fantasy set onto a kraft card tag and layer onto a second tag using dimensional tape.

Spray a couple of pre-made flowers with dilute Wimberry Pie Acrylic Paint and allow to air dry; the paint will draw some of the green ink out of the lower layer of leaves.

Returning to the background, add strips of coordinating lace to the centre of the doily design and layer over the stamped tags.

To finish add the painted flowers, butterflies and some more coordinating flowers to finish the design before mounting onto a card blank.

Mixed media canvas

Hello Everyone! Monika here with a new juicy inspiration for you. I used this time Floral Fantasy, Word Blocks and Light and Sound Borders to create colourful, mixed media canvas. In the center of my canvas I placed lilac stamp from Floral Fantasy set.
I also stamped doily stamp from the same set using StazOn Gothic Purple ink and I coloured them with Distress Inks.

I used some IndigoBlu English Cottage Artist's Acrylic Paints: Wimberry Pie,

Cinderella, Townhouse Teal and the newest colours Marshmallow and my favourite Mulberry Bush.

Watercolour Card and Embossing

Hi wonderful crafty people!!

Georgie here with you today and I thought I'd share another watercolour style card.

I'm quite heavily into mixed media so it is nice to shake up the routine a little.

 For this card, I heat embossed with black. This helps to contain the colour, really useful if you are new to this technique and worry about running over the lines with colour.

The stamps used for this is from Floral Fantasy, including the sentiment. I took it from part of one of the sayings. 

You need about four colours,  in varying amount of strengths, but apply roughly, only considering slightly the areas of shadow as a whole. But don't get bogged down with detail.

Don't be afraid to go 'sketchy' with the paint brush to create shade variation, like the leaves here.

And I just love enamel dots on projects like these, they add a sense of fun!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hello Everyone and Welcome! Ksenija is here today and I am sharing a project featuring the Floral Fantasy stamp set from the latest IndigoBlu release.

Today's post demonstrates a one-layer card made with masking and ink blending techniques.

I started with stamping lilacs in Archival black ink down to a card base and then stamping the same image down to masking paper and fussy cutting it out. Using masking tape I masked off the edges of the card keeping a rectangular opening. Following this step I covered the previously stamped lilacs image with a mask.

Moving from the lower part of the opening to the upper I blended in various Distress inks. Then I removed all the masks and stamped down the sentiment in black dye ink.

I love the detailed image of the lilacs in this set and a little butterfly sitting on the top of the bunch. I felt that it did not need any additional embellishment, so gorgeous this image was.

Hello Ladies and Guys! Monika here. Today I want to show you my mixed media box.

I played with MegaFlakes and with paints. First I applied coat of GeeSso Good! Gesso - Black. Then I stamped the doily stamp from Floral Fantasy set using my favourite Mega Flakes Chocolate Box. 

I also used metallic paints: Gold, Sleeping Beauty, Copper as you can see, they are perfectly working together. At the end I applied thin coat of Slap It On Gloss to add some shine.
