Oscar's Wild Poppy Couture

Hi there Elizabeth here with another new project to share with you.

I absolutely love decorating the Mannequins we have at IndigoBlu. I start by fitting the base together, before giving that and the body a coat of White GeeSsoGood.

Aha and what's this donut shapes piece of white wax paper for.............well I know what I'm going to use it for it's a ready made skirt!

Given a quick coat of Peppermint Tea Cottage Garden paint to create a little tooth, I stamped over two of these using the new Wild Poppy stamp set and Black GeeSsoGood.

The stamped images weren't crisp as it was a wax surface that had been scrunched up, but I really loved the effect, and so added the branches in the same way.

I diluted Stroke of Midnight and brushed the colour over the top of the flowers, this really reminds me of the beautiful almost distressed floral fabrics from the 50's.

I decided which one would be my bottom layer of the skirt, and gave it a little scrunch before adding it to the Mannequin.

Then I added a few black sequins to the flower centres on what would be the top layer of the skirt, well you know me and sequins by now, I just can't resist.

I created a bodice with black satin ribbon and lace, to compliment the black sequins, and gave her a choker of beautiful crocheted thread with sequins.

Sat upon the top of the body is a beautiful cystal knob, which catches the light.

So there you have my homage to Oscar De La Renta and a bygone time of stunning couture cocktail dresses.

Drifting Into Autumn







Hello Jannet here today, and I am honoured to be a member of the lovely Indigoblu Design Team for another year. October is full of golden crisp leaves swirling from the trees, so I thought I would try to capture that scene in a picture. I have recycled some items, and foraged from Mother Nature for other lovely natural pieces.

For my canvas I recycled the backing of a Watercolour pad. I began by covering it in fine texture paste. I pressed some leaves into the paste and then peeled them back. Some were more successful than others, but the textures they left were all interesting!



When dry I painted Warm Tan, Leather Corset, and Hot Cocoa over the paste.I had some crumpled copy paper ready to lay over it and then pressed it down, when removed it leaves lots of lovely textures from the creases.

When the paint was drying I repeated this process on a sheet of card, ready to die cut some leaves from. After cutting them, I randomly added a touch of flitterglu and some  flakes from the chocolate box mega flakes, which gave them an autumnal sheen. I crumpled up the leaves to try and make them look more natural.

I inked over the top of the raised leaf shapes in the texture paste and also, added some penny dreadful luscious to add some Shimmering shine. I mixed a pinch of  luscious with clear embossing powder, and heat embossed the Always something New To Discover stamp from the  “Dreams Come True” Stamp set.

I added another helping of texture paste to the base of the picture and added some little art stones into it. When dry I painted over the stones using the same colours as previously, and shook a little luscious with clear embossing powder onto to it, and heat set.

I gathered together some twigs, pressed leaves, and flowers and adhered them along with my die cut leaves onto the canvas.

Carolyn here with you today. I've been creative as long as I can remember and my interest in card making began over 10 years ago. I attended a local craft workshop weekly and it snowballed from there. Being involved with Indigoblu has broadened my horizons and I also enjoy mixed media too.

I made this card whilst creating my samples for Kay's Christmas ODS recently.

Firstly I created the background with Blue Luscious and added a few splatters.

I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Wreath stamp set in dark blue.

The snowflakes were stamped with the blue Luscious onto shrink plastic and fussy cut. These were then blasted with the heat gun to shrink them.

The pale blue matt layer was a piece of white card that I'd painted with the blue Luscious.

 To finish the card this was then mounted onto a dark blue card blank

Hello Autumn

Hello Everyone and Welcome!

Today Ksenija is here, and I am happy to share with you a new project as a part of September inspiration from International DT.

I would like to demonstrate the way to use big stamps for Clean and Simple cards. For my card I am combining Lollipop Tree and Dreams Come True stamp sets with Megaflakes. Clean and Simple (CAS) cards should have a lot free (white) space and preferably one focal image. To comply with CAS style rules I suggest stamping the big image over the crease line.

I started with cutting the card base to 5 1/2" by 6 1/4" and folding it vertically at 2". Then stamped the tree in soft grey archival ink down to a soft grey card base. I did not center it, but moved the stamp to the right to get the stem of the tree on the front panel.

Then partially applied FlitterGlu to the tree stamp and made the second impression, which I covered with Winter Dawn Megaflakes. Winter Dawn - is a mix of silver foils with blue greens and shiny golds.

I cut a white card panel to size 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" and stamped down Hello script from Dreams Come True set. To bind visually the grey card base and this panel I heat embossed one heart in silver powder.

To assemble the card I folded it at 2" and adhered the white panel under the narrow side of the card base.
