Different

Hello Jannet here today, I hope everyone is having lots of fun with their Indigoblu goodies. Are you going to Ally Pally on 8th & 9th April it should be a wonderful crafty day out!

Whenever I am creating a little crafty project, I can't seem to help making up a story to go with it! So I am delighted that this month we have been asked to create a story!

Different

There once was a lovely young lady, who was a little different from all of the other girls her age.She was kind and thoughtful, but she just didn't seem to fit in.

One sunny spring afternoon she was sitting alone in the forest, trying very hard not to weep. When suddenly.... she heard a twinkling sound. She looked up, but at first she couldn't see anything making the magical sound. Then she turned her head a little to the right, and smiling over at her was the most beautiful Unicorn! She rubbed her eyes in disbelief, but he really was real !

"Hello" he said in a friendly Unicorn sort of a way. "Could you please help me " asked the Unicorn "I think I am lost, and I can't see any other Unicorns around."I am feeling a bit scared a.n.d...well lonely"

"Where do you want to go ?" asked the young lady smiling.

"I'm not sure" replied the Unicorn "Somewhere I won't feel different I just want to fit in, and be loved" replied the Unicorn.

The young lady wheeled over to the Unicorn and reached up and wrapped her arms around him.She held him as tightly as she could and the Unicorn sighed a deep and happy sigh.

"You can come home with me"she whispered, "I will love you forever, and look after you."

"And I you." replied the Unicorn.

If you ever see a trail of sparkles anywhere you can be sure the young lady and her Unicorn were there!

--------------

I started creating my picture by stamping Caitlin onto some watercolour paper, and then stamping her again on some masking paper.I cut her out of the masking paper and placed her over the top of her corresponding image on the watercolour paper.

Next I stamped Jewel the lovely Unicorn over the top of Caitlin, after removing the mask he appears as if he is behind her.

I painted in some cloudy skies and spring grass. I added some colour to Jewel with watercolours, and of course I added the all important Unicorn Sparkles to his mane!

To create the tree branches I used some fine texture paste, and when dry I painted over them. You can also mix acrylic paint into your texture paste before applying. The branches needed some spring blossom, so I painted a piece of card with iced gem paint and a random sprinkling of Raspberry Luscious.

Which created many differing shades of shimmering pink.

I die cut lots of little flowers from the card. To add some shape to each flower I placed it over the top of my paint brush and cupped it around it.

Some flowers needed a little more colour, and I added a dot to the centre.I adhered each flower onto the branches.

Wishing you many happy magical days.

Fantasy Unicorn Tag

Autumn Clark here with my kickoff post.  I have been so excited to get my hands on the Jewel unicorn stamp!  I have made several projects, but can only share one today.  Check back often for more inspiration.  This stamp was so much fun to work with because your mind instantly gets carried into the realm of fantasy and wonder when you ink it up.  Today I thought I would share a mixed media tag with you using some fun background techniques with IndigoBlu’s exquisite line of paints & new Unicorn Sparkle glitter.

I lightly mixed Park Lane and Snow White Metallic paints and scraped across a black tag with a plastic card.  I chose this technique because I really wanted my black background to show through.  While the paint was wet, I dropped a bundle of metallic string onto my tag.

Next, I mixed 1 part Unicorn Sparkle with 1 part Super Thick Slap It On together and scraped through the Stars stencil with a palette knife.  The reason I mixed it together rather than sprinkling it over the wet Slap It On was to avoid getting glitter everywhere.  If you love glitter, but hate the mess, do try this technique.

I allowed the Slap It On to air dry, while I worked on my other elements.  I stamped Jewel onto heavy card with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I added some shading with a colored pencil.  Then I added a small amount of the same paints with some water and painted her as shown, overlapping the edges to allow for cutting.

When my tag was dry, I doodled around some of the stars with a permanent black pen.  Then I bundled Jewel with some purchased flowers, a die cut, and some gathered tulle to create my focal point.  I used pure white embossing powder over a wooden cutout for the main sentiment, and computer generated the lower text.  I mixed some tiny black beads with my Slap It On and brushed that randomly over my tag and flowers.  A few sequins and a bow completed the look.

You can see the Unicorn Sparkle reflects so many colors.  But if you rub it when mixed with Slap It On in paste form, it does not come off.  I hope you’ve been inspired today and would love to hear your comments.

Magical Unicorn Gift Box

Good Morning I hope everyone is having a very happy summertime. Jannet here today.
For my first project I thought I would create a magical land for Jewel the gorgeous Unicorn to live. I started by selecting a box from my " that will be useful one day" pile. I wanted the 3D scene to be on the lid, so I set the bottom part of the box aside.

The magical castle needed to be on a slight hill, so I glued an empty ribbon reel onto the top left corner. This was all covered in modelling paste. If you press the flat side of a spatula down into the paste and pull it up you are left with some cute little peaks.

I stamped and painted Jewel and the castles. Now you cannot have a Unicorn without Unicorn Sparkles! Yes.. Yes Unicorn Sparkles really do exist! I added some sparkle to Jewel's mane and tail. I fussy cut all the images, but left room for a tab at the bottom as this will be pushed through a slit in the top of the box and folded back underneath so the images will stand up.

A magical land is not complete without stars. So I reached for my star stencil, and after securing it with a low tac tape I started spreading Super Thick Slap It On into it.After carefully removing the stencil,I sprinkled on the Unicorn Sprinkles!

Ooh look at the result - Starry, Sparkly gorgeousness! It was so easy to do too!

I cut out the sparkly stars, and twisted some thin silver wire into a spiral and glued the stars onto the wire. A sewing needle made just the right size hole in the lid to slide the wire into, a dab of glue kept it in place.
When the modelling paste was nice and dry, I gave it two coats of Peppermint Tea paint, and added some other shades of green and pink. A lovely carpet of Unicorn Sprinkles and some glitter flakes and clear gems finished off the Magical Land.
Happy Magical crafting!
Jannet
