Mindfulness #2

Morning, Carolyn here with you today sharing my recent card with you. I have been busy making stuff for the up coming One Day Special on the 17th & 18th July. Then I realised I hadn't made anything for my blog post. Its a bit early to start sharing sneak peaks so couldn't use anything I'd prepared for Kay's Hochanda show. So whilst most of the nation was watching England play Columbia I took the chance to create a relatively quick make for me.

I chose the Mindfulness #2 stamp set and thought about making a clean and simple card but it didn't quite turn out as planned.

Started by using the latest Junk and Disorderly Translucent Acrylic Paint in Indigoblu to stamp the text.

I then added some Slap It On Matte to the paint to extend the drying time and also make it more translucent. This was used to stamp the wings and also sponge around the Girl In Profile Stencil to the edge of the card.

More wings were stamped using Wimberry Pie

At this point I wasn't particularly happy with what I'd done so I then added a wash of Ultraviolet Luscious and also some drippage in Purple Luscious

I decided to break up the text so it could be positioned with space between to enable the background to be seen. This was then adhered to the stamped background which was attached to a white square card blank. This left quite a wide border so to finish off I drew freehand around the edge and added some squiggles.

I've tried to catch the shine from the Luscious in the photo below.

Thank you for popping by and taking time to read my post. Hope you'll tune into Hochanda on the 17th & 18th July to see Kay showcase more fabulous goodies. Looking forward to sharing the DT's inspiration with you all.

Happy Crafting

Encouraging Card and Secret Message Tags

“She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She  walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.”

This fabulous quote is by Ariana Dancu and can be found in the Indigoblu Mindfulness #2 Stamp Set.

This card is perfect for someone going through difficult times, or who just needs an encouraging, positive word. I wanted to include a pocket on the front of this card for tags to hold secret  messages or even a gift card or two!

My colour scheme for this pretty feminine card was Marshmallow Pink and Grandmas Teacup Blue. I watered down these acrylic paints and created a background. Acrylic paints can also be used directly onto  the stamps, so I used a makeup sponge to dab the colours onto the Circle Dots stamp. I washed them afterwards before the paint dried on the stamp as they would be a little more difficult to clean!

I stamped the Circle Dots  onto the edges of the card

Caitlin this stamp comes with a wonderful quote by A.A.Milne.

I stamped the beautiful Caitlin onto my background using a black versafine ink pad. I added some colour to her face and  gave her pink and blue hair which I thought was fabulous.I would love to have that colour combination of hair!

I also stamped her on some copy paper which I cut out to use as a mask.Once she was safely masked I stamped the wings onto her shoulders, the wings are also  from the Mindfulness #2 stamp Set.

I stamped the brilliant quote underneath her, and also gave her some bling on her wrist and ear, and to the centre of some of the circles. I used pretty sequins and little gems.

To make the pocket I used foam tape on the back of the picture, and measured the depth of the tags. I laid a line of foam tape under the tag depth so they would not disappear all the way down behind the picture. My card blank was 7x7 inches.

I made the tags in the same way, only this time I thought I would try embossing the Circle Dots Stamp.  I adhered the picture to the base card, and after tying some pretty ribbons to the tags I slid the tags inside the pocket.

Encouraging, loving words could be added to the tags. Receiving a  handmade card and a written note can mean so much.

Thank you for popping by today. I hope I have inspired you with this card.
Have fun xx

Mindfulness #2 Journal Page

Morning, Carolyn here with you today, hope you all enjoyed your Christmas festivities yesterday.

This is a recent Journal Page I created using the Mindfulness #2 and Shine Bright stamp sets. I used some of the Collectors Edition stamps with Distress Oxides for the masterboard background. The stamps included BubblesNumbers and Circle Dots plus the Inky Dink Trellis stencil which is a favourite of mine. Purple and teal seem to be my go to colours of choice although I'm partial to a bit of orange too.

The detail on the wings is fabulous and I've highlighted areas with a white Posca pen.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more projects with you soon. In the meantime why not pop back soon to see lots more inspiration from the team.

This is my last blog post for 2017 so I wish you well and best wishes for 2018.
