Seahorse Stamp

Hello Kay M here,   I would like to share this seahorse tag with you today.  It's similar to one I made for Kay's launch of the last four stamps in the Collectors Edition on Hochanda last weekend.  This one has the seahorse, crackle and compass new stamps.

I painted a grey board tag with black GeeSsoGood and when dry the crackle stamp was stamped randomly over with an embossing ink and heat embossed in clear embossing powder.   The compass stamp was then stamped over the tag with the embossing ink and this time bronze Luscious powder was added to the clear powder before heat embossing.

Goldfinger and MissMoneypenny paints were painted onto Wet Media Dura-Lar(you could use acetate) and Gold and pink Luscious powders painted onto white card and left to dry.

The seahorse was stamped with StazOn on the non painted side of the Dura-Lar  and also one onto gold shrink film.  Seashells from Under the Sea set were stamped over the painted Luscious powders and a sentiment onto white card.  These were then cut out and shaped and the gold seahorse heat shrunk.

All the elements were adhered to the tag and string added to finish the tag.  I removed the hole from seahorse as I changed my mind about were to place him!

I hope you have enjoyed this tag and do check out the latest Collection Edition Nos 9, 10, 11 and 12, they're fabulous!

Take care,   Kay M x

Festive Ornaments

Hello,   Kay M here today with an experiment with the acrylic pours  Kay launched on Hochanda at the weekend.  You can still watch all her shows on Rewind at the Hochanda web site.   I had so much fun making samples for the shows and learnt a lot  in the process.   The great thing about acrylic pouring you never know how it's going to turn out!  Kay's  Go-Flow and Cell-u-Like formula's take the guesswork out of measuring all the elements and work with all  the IndigoBlu paints.

Having done a few projects on flat surfaces I thought I'll have a go on some shapes, a few paper mache  ornaments from my stash.   Sue, from the  TV design team did a couple of lovely egg shaped ones as samples for Kay's shows.

They were painted with Gee-Sso-Good white and set up over a foil tray.
The  paints, the new Red Hot Chilli, Purple Rain, and Teal for Two  as well as Cinderella, Black Gee-Sso-Good and Gold Luscious pigment too  were mixed in shot glasses with out adding any water.  A few drops of Cell-u-like were added to three of the paints.   I had already made up white following the instructions that come to the Go-Flow and Cell-u-Like.

Each ornament was thickly painted with the white mixture then the colours were added to the top of each ornament one on top of another and letting them drop though each other and mingle.
They were left to dry.    They were then given two coats of Glossy Slap-It-On mixed with a pinch of Unicorn Sparkles.
And when dry beads and tassel's were added.  It was interesting to see how each one was different when the same paint colours were used.

There was still a fair amount of paint left so I did a dirty pour on to an A5 canvas painted with black Gee-Sso-Good using all the remaining paints, added a little water to each of them to get a good pour, and the white base.

Check in to the shared blog on the 19th November to see how it turned out!

Until then, take care Kay M x

Road testing new IndigoBlu Acrylic Pouring Kit

Morning All,

Carolyn here with you today. I had the pleasure of attending the IndigoBlu Secret Retreat up in Retford last weekend. What a weekend it was with various new products being used prior to launch dates. If you get the chance I can thoroughly recommend this to you all. Crafting, creating and laughing all weekend, we all had such fun! Take a look at Kay's Facebook Live page that was shared on Saturday 21st October to see what it was all about.

So today I'm sharing a new product that will be coming your way on Kay's One Day Special on November 11th and 12th on Hochanda. I had the chance to road test this over the weekend and had a further dabble this week. You may have seen on various sites people showing what they've created using the 'Dirty Pour' technique, well let me tell you, Kay has made this so easy with her new kit.

Introducing the fantastic IndigoBlu Acrylic Pouring Kit......

Here's what can be created and the possibilities are endless with no two projects ever being the same. Below are 4 tiles that I created at the retreat over the weekend.

So after arriving home I couldn't wait to try this again. The most difficult thing is choosing what colours to use!

The next step is mixing the colours with the products from the kit plus a good quality PVA. I mixed these in small plastic shot glasses.

The colours are then poured into a plastic/paper cup and it is this mixture of colours that is poured onto the coaster.

I chose to use a MDF coaster to pour my paint onto so first I had to seal it with the coat of Black Gesso to prevent it soaking into the wood. This was then placed into a foil tray so it can catch the drips of paint. I then began to pour.

Once its poured I rotated it from side to side to allow the paint to flow to the edges of the coaster. As you can see gloves are a must unless you want to get covered in paint.

I did add black to the corners and swiped through it with a needle to add to the effect.

I then left this overnight to dry and below is my finished coaster.

I can guarantee you'll love this kit and probably become addicted to the 'Dirty Pour'.

So tune in to Hochanda on November 11th at 6pm for Kay's first show. I'm sure you'll be impressed!!

Happy crafting and thank you for joining me today.

Carolyn

The Poppy Fairy

Hi Everyone,

Mike here with my very first official International Design Team blog post and project. I've been crafting for over 10 years and started to play more with mixed media and art journaling over the last three. I started my YouTube channel in 2015. I've been a fan of IndigoBlu for most of my crafting life!

For my first official project I decided to create a mixed media Poppy Fairy bust using one of the paper mache busts from IndigoBlu and use one of the new release stamps sets called "Wild Poppy". I teamed that up with the Big Butterfly #2 stamp and some IndigoBlu paints, mainly Lime Marmalade, Banana Custard, Ruby Slippers and Emerald City! What a great combination!

You can watch the entire creation process from start to finish by clicking the video link below. Don't forget to give it a thumbs up, share with your friends and subscribe to the IndigoBlu YouTube channel for more videos from the Design Team.

Guest Designer Trish Latimer

Hi there!
Trish Latimer here, very happy and honoured to be sharing a post today on the blog!

For those that don’t know me, I’m a messy painty mixed media artist, into all things colourful and quirky! I also love drawing faces and figures, and I have my own range of WhimsyGirl rubber stamps
Oh, and I am also Editor of the best mixed media magazine around, Craft Stamper!

In February, I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest demonstrator for IndigoBlu at the UK trade show, Stitches. I had an absolute blast, and loved showing people how I created painty backgrounds for the figures I had made using the stunning face stamps by Kay. The journal pages I created there have since been featured on Hochanda (squeeeee!), with Kay doing an AMAZING job showing how to recreate the look!

I thought I would share a step by step tutorial on how I create figures from the faces, but first, here is the finished piece…

So, how to create the figures? (Please bear in mind that these are ‘quirky’ people, so might not be anatomically to scale)
Firstly, stamp the head, and then sketch in the ‘body’ (or shape of the dress). As a general rule I simply extend the lines from the sides of the neck, flaring out slightly as I go…

Next, extend the lines of the shoulders. For most of my figures, I’m not sketching actual body shapes, these are the clothes shapes, so the shoulders can be exaggerated to form sleeves.

For this dress, I wanted a collar, so this gets sketched in next…

The sleeve shapes can be finalised…

I’m rubbish at drawing hands, so most of my girls either have their hands behind their backs, or I draw an extra ‘something’ that they can be holding without the need to draw an accurate hand! This little lady had her hands behind her back…

Details can now be added, then the sketched lines that you want to keep can be drawn in with a permanent fine liner pen. You may notice that my figure ‘stops’ halfway down! I know the size of the background I’ll be placing her on, so I don’t need to draw in the rest. Of course, lines can be extended down, and legs and feet added if the whole person will be on show.

She can now be coloured! The ‘extra’ bit of stamped neck that was present in the collar was simply gessoed over before colouring.

All kinds of clothes can be drawn for your figure, check out fashion magazines or web sites for inspiration about necklines or dress shapes!

I then created a painty background using IndigoBlu paints, and background stamps collected from lots of different IndigoBlu stamp plates. No space here today to share just how I created the background, but if any of you are curious then I have video tutorials showing the process. The links to these can be found on my blog: http://www.inkpaintbeads.blogspot.co.uk/

The finishing touch was a wonderful phrase from the Mindfulness plate. I hope you like her!

Thank you so much for having me!
