Sparkle And Glisten

Hello Everyone and Welcome!
Today Ksenija is here, and I am happy to share with you a new project as a part of November inspiration from International DT.

Today I am featuring the Vintage Flourish red rubber stamp for a flap card. One beautiful flourish helps to build a background and serves as a focal element as well.

Tips on Making This Card:

  • Trim the panel from the cream card stock down to 4 1/4 by 5 1/2" (10 by 14 cm)
  • Stamp down the flourish in linen ink several times
  • Trim the card base from white card stock down to 6 1/2 by 4 1/2" (16.6 by 11.5 cm) and score it horizontaly
  • Stamp down the flourish in light green ink. Then apply a darker shade of ink to the stamp and dub off partially ink with a paper towel and stamp down to the first impression.
  • Cover the Flourish stamp partially with FlitterGlu and stamp over the colour impression
  • Apply Morris Dance Megaflakes and rub off the excess of foil.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Sparkle and Glisten set in black ink
  • Adhere the card down to the base using a double-sided tape
Please share with me in comments your ideas what other IndigoBlu stamps could be used for this technique - building a background and being a focal element.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a nice weekend!

Snowy Feathers

Hello Jannet here today, have you started thinking about creating your Christmas/Winter cards and gifts yet? I have actually made one gift already which is for my parents. This Snowy Feathers  plaque, which features the lovely Robin. For once I was quite happy with how it turned  out, so I thought it might look nice as a card too.

I started by creating a background by using a brayer to apply Stonewashed and Terracotta Adirondack inks. and then spritzed over them with water.

The Robin stamped very nicely onto Watercolour card, and I used Watercolours to give him his famous red breast. I then fussy cut him, no feathers were harmed!

I found a comfortable looking twig for the Robin to happily sit on. I dabbed on some fine modelling paste and then shook some Unicorn Sparkles over it to create the glistening snow.
I stamped the Night before Christmas stamp from the Sparkle and Glisten Stamp Set onto the background. To create the icicles I applied a thick line of glossy accents to the top of the card and then stood the card up so it dripped nicely down, I then shook Unicorn Sparkles over the top.
I adhered the Robin onto the twig and attached the twig to the background. I added some dried moss  a pine cone and a festive red berry.
I finished by flittering white paint over the picture to create falling snow.
I hope you have fun making your cards - Unicorn Sparkles everywhere !

Sparkle

It is Cec here and today I have my second inspiration project for you based on the Bonfire Night theme.  Our lovely DT Leader, Elizabeth, gave those of us who live in countries that don't celebrate this event the following things to consider:
  • Lots of bright coloured fireworks going off, bonfires and starry skies
  • Family gathering and celebrations
  • The word "sparkle" for fireworks called sparklers
  • Lots of bright colours such as an explosion of colour using butterflies, flowers, birds
Since I did a card with fireworks in a night sky as my first project, I decided to go bright this time.  I started with some yellow card stock for my blank.

I dug out some Watercolour card and painted it with a coat of Lemon Meringue Matte Acrylic paint.  Then I added Mulbery Bush, Burning Bonfire and Postbox Red Matte Acrylic paint through a TCW stencil called Mini Burst.  Despite every effort, it still bled under the stencil and I was about to toss it when I restrained myself and grabbed a baby wipe and pulled the colour from the centre out.  I love the way that looks now and thought it was a great save.  The burst reminds me of fireworks - OK, so a bit of a stretch maybe but that's my story and I am sticking to it.

I stamped two each of three different flowers from the Live, Laugh, Love stamp set onto some scraps of white card stock with Versamark and then embossed it with Recollections Gold embossing powder.

Once dry I fussy cut the flowers and painted them with Postbox Red, Lemon Meringue and Mulberry Bush Matte Acrylic paint.  The flowers were then shaped by cutting into sections and bending or curling the petals before layering them.

I die cut some leaves from Tim Holtz Kraft Core Shattered Collection and a Tim Holtz set called Garden Greens and then coated them with Gold Luscious mixed with a bit of water.

Finally, I stamped the word Sparkle from the Sparkle and Glisten stamp set onto some of the yellow card stock with Vermillion Archival Ink and then distressed it with my scissors and inked the edges with Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink.

I sure hope I have done the Bonfire Night theme justice with this very bright card - I had lots of fun making it.

Starburst

Cheremane here with you today. Seeing its November we are sharing Firework inspiration with you here at IndigoBlu this month. I've used a mix of Stencils,Stamps,Super Thick Slap It On,Luscious Powders and MegaFlakes to create my project for you today.

Take some Super Thick Slap It On and mix with three different colours of Luscious Powders I've used Blue,Silver and Purple.

If you mix to much Super Thick Slap It On and Luscious Powders you can store the left over coloured
Super Thick Slap it on in an air tight container to use on another project.
Look at the yummy mica in the Luscious Powders.

Using a Palette Knife spread the Super Thick Slap It On over the Starburst Stencil, random is better so don't worry about putting one colour on top of another as it adds to the effect.

Once the Super Thick Slap It On is dry you really will see the true Luscious Powder colour and the sparkle of the mica.

Mix some Rose Bronze Luscious Powder with some Clear Superfine Embossing Powder to make your very own embossing powder to match all your Luscious projects. I've made a little pot up of every colour ready to use when ever I need that extra special embossing powder for a project.

Using some Phat Foam and Flitterglu stamp the Sparkle & Glisten word from the stamp set and sprinkle over the Luscious embossing powder that you have made and heat with a heat tool, look at the extra glisten of the mica blinging through.

Finally using the Phat foam with Flitterglu on rub round the edge of the card and then add Sheffield Steel MegaFlakes this really finishes off a project and adds that little extra bling, now mat onto some Coal Black Stamping Card, water down a little bit of Black GeeSso Good and add some small splats with a fine brush, then add some 3d foam to the sentiment to make it stand proud in the middle of the Starburst.

Thanks so much for stopping by I hope you like it and your feeling inspired.

Sparkle and Glisten Christmas Box

On Christmas Eve two deer Sparkle and Glisten are patiently waiting in the forest for Father Christmas to arrive.Underneath their feet they have a box of goodies just for him to deliver to his own very special deer!

I used a Round papier mache box size 12.5cm D x 8cm H (4.92 inches 3.15 inches) for this special Christmas box. I swept a brush full of Snow White paint over the box, and the side of the lid. I painted the inside of the box too. Now of course I added the deer names onto the side of the box, How useful that their names are on an Indigoblu stencil!

The stencil is flexible so I wrapped it around the box and held it in place with masking tape. I wound the tape all the way around to be sure that it stayed in place! I also made sure to cover the stencil words above and below. A make up sponge was perfect to dab some ink into the stencil. Make up sponges come in very useful for many crafty tasks. You can find a good sized bag of sponges quite inexpensively from discount stores.

Next I stamped the trees, deer, and bunnies from the Winterland Wood stamp set in Archival cornflower ink. I fussy cut them all, but left space underneath for a tab. I added white paint to the trees and animals. When it was dry I brushed on FlitterGlu to add some sparkling glitter. I cut slits in the top of the lid for the trees and animals to be slotted into. I folded the tab up underneath the lid and glued them in place. The underside didn't look very pretty, so I cut out a circle of card to cover it, and decorated it with a stamp,

A mixture of modelling paste and glitter made some glistening snow, which I used to cover the top of the lid.

The box could easily be changed into any season, by painting the paste to the corresponding colour of your chosen season. I am going to be making more special boxes for my little gifts this Christmas. I hope you have fun if you make one too.

Products used;

A5 'Winterland Wood' stamp set
'Sparkle and Glisten' stencil
IndigoBlu Metallic Acrylic Paint 'Snow White'

Twinkling Unicorn Canvas

Hello there, Cheremane here today with my very first post as part of the International Design Team. I just adore Jewel the Unicorn stamp it's perfect for so many occasions.

I started with a 20cm x 20cm Canvas Board giving it a coat of Black GeeSso Good. Once dry I mixed some yummy Blue Luscious Powder with water to give a blue metallic wash, to make it look like a night sky.

Next I added some Extra Thick Slap it on through the beautiful Vintage Frame Stencil. The slap it on dries clear if you leave it as it comes out of the pot.

Before the Extra Thick Slap It On was dry I added some delicious Unicorn Sparkles. I just adore glitter.

I wanted to change my Extra Thick Slap It On from clear to silver so I mixed it with some yummy Silver Luscious powder. It's brilliant as you can now make your very own different coloured texture paste's. If like me you make to much then why not put the excess into an empty Mega-Flake pot ready for next time, as this is what I have done.

Randomly place the Stars Stencil and the made up Silver Slap It On over the canvas. Just look at that Luscious Powder! I really can't stop using them along with the Stars Stencil, they definitely never seem to be off my table at the moment.

Now to finish, stamp out Jewel with Versafine Majestic Blue ink pad and add some Unicorn Sparkles to the main and tail with Flitterglu.

The sentiment is from the New Sparkle and Glisten Stamp Set,before adding I used the Paper Distress Tool to the edge of the card.

For the final touch I added some clear gems for extra sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you like it as much as I did making it.
