CAS Distress Stain Ombre Silhouette Card

It's summer time and the livin' is easy!  Autumn with you today to share a simple silhouette card design featuring our lovely new Victorian Garden stamp set.  Here in the US, we've gone wild over Distress Stains, so I created an ombre sunset background with those.  I simply dabbed them onto my craft mat in rows of color then smooshed my watercolor paper into the ink, dabbing any drips.

There are so many color options you could use for this card design, but I chose a sunset palette.  I layered some fabric washi tape at the bottom for a punch.

To get my sentiment just perfect, I first stamped it onto my background panel, then onto the cut circle and matched up the font.  This sentiment is from our new Shine Bright stamp set with the lightbulbs - another must have!

Mary Metallic Christmas Card

Autumn here to share some holiday inspiration with you.  I just could not wait to ink up the lovely new Mother and Child stamp.  I decided to do a non-traditional color scheme so I could play with my beautiful new IndigoBlu metallic paints.

I used a pine bough die with very thin chipboard.  I lightly mixed a small amount of Goldfinger and Snow White metallic paints together to form the most luxurious color and painted several of the die cuts.  Next I cut my snowflakes and star and painted them with pure Goldfinger for contrast.

On a watercolor panel I partially stamped the Christmas Word Block and Snowflake Lace repeatedly with Versamark ink.  I poured silver embossing powder over some sections, then shook off the excess.  Then I poured gold embossing powder over the entire panel to collect in any open areas of my inked background and heat embossed.  I distressed the edges of my panel.  Then I embossed Mary in silver and fussy cut the edges.

I layered my elements, adding in some vintage seam binding, sequins, and splashes of watery Goldfinger and Snow White paints for interest.  I mounted onto a pewter card base to create a pretty framed edge.

This card is both mixed media and CAS, if there is such a thing!  I hope it inspires you to start your Christmas cards, especially if you're not quite in the mood for red and green just yet.

Thank you for your visit today and I look forward to reading your comments.

Watercolour Card and Embossing

Hi wonderful crafty people!!

Georgie here with you today and I thought I'd share another watercolour style card.

I'm quite heavily into mixed media so it is nice to shake up the routine a little.

For this card, I heat embossed with black. This helps to contain the colour, really useful if you are new to this technique and worry about running over the lines with colour.

The stamps used for this is from Floral Fantasy, including the sentiment. I took it from part of one of the sayings.

You need about four colours,  in varying amount of strengths, but apply roughly, only considering slightly the areas of shadow as a whole. But don't get bogged down with detail.

Don't be afraid to go 'sketchy' with the paint brush to create shade variation, like the leaves here.

And I just love enamel dots on projects like these, they add a sense of fun!

Have a lovely day,
Georgie

Card Set For Any Occasion

Hi Folks!! Georgie here with you, and today I'm sharing a series of CAS cards, using a new stamp set from IndigoBlu called Word Blocks!

Aren't there gorgeous?!! I do love a good word set, and not only are these great for CAS, but can you imagine the possibilities for background stamping too!!

See the complete series  of six below:

I used coloured co-ordinated hotfix gems to match the paper colour background I chose and randomly dotted them about for a bit of bling beauty. :)

I know CAS is very unusual for me but sometimes it's lovely to take a break from the norm and reset my mixed media thinking from time to time. What about you, are you a CAS fan? If so, these are just the perfect set!!

Take care and many hugs,
Georgie
