On Christmas Eve two deer Sparkle and Glisten are patiently waiting in the forest for Father Christmas to arrive.Underneath their feet they have a box of goodies just for him to deliver to his own very special deer!
I used a Round papier mache box size 12.5cm D x 8cm H (4.92 inches 3.15 inches) for this special Christmas box. I swept a brush full of Snow White paint over the box, and the side of the lid. I painted the inside of the box too. Now of course I added the deer names onto the side of the box, How useful that their names are on an Indigoblu stencil!
The stencil is flexible so I wrapped it around the box and held it in place with masking tape. I wound the tape all the way around to be sure that it stayed in place! I also made sure to cover the stencil words above and below. A make up sponge was perfect to dab some ink into the stencil. Make up sponges come in very useful for many crafty tasks. You can find a good sized bag of sponges quite inexpensively from discount stores.
Next I stamped the trees, deer, and bunnies from the Winterland Wood stamp set in Archival cornflower ink. I fussy cut them all, but left space underneath for a tab. I added white paint to the trees and animals. When it was dry I brushed on FlitterGlu to add some sparkling glitter. I cut slits in the top of the lid for the trees and animals to be slotted into. I folded the tab up underneath the lid and glued them in place. The underside didn't look very pretty, so I cut out a circle of card to cover it, and decorated it with a stamp,
A mixture of modelling paste and glitter made some glistening snow, which I used to cover the top of the lid.
The box could easily be changed into any season, by painting the paste to the corresponding colour of your chosen season. I am going to be making more special boxes for my little gifts this Christmas. I hope you have fun if you make one too.
