Tutorial: Linen Hanging Heart

Hello Giovanna today with the last post for this month full of love!
A while ago a friend of mine gave me a roll of heavy cotton, that looks like a lot like linen, so I used it to make a hanging heart, using stamps, paper and the brilliant shades of the Cottage paints: Spring is in the air..... Follow me in this step by step, it is super easy to make!

Trace and cut out the heart shape from the fabric

Paint just the in the middle with gesso

Paint some strips using the Cottage paints, blending them together. Give a second coat until you are happy with the result, let it dry

Put a small amount of acrylic paint on the desktop and using a brayer roll the paint on the background stamps. Stamp randomly.

Cut out some elements from the paper pad and glue them to the heart, along with the stamped sentiment.

Glue the heart to a piece of heavy cardstock and cut it out.

A House of Small Treasures

Hi everyone and welcome! Jenny here and today I'm sharing my latest project with you. IndigoBlu have a fantastic large wooden house frame in stock that perfect for altering and filling with all your small treasures and curios.

I started by giving the raw wood a coat of gesso and added some modelling paste through the Texture stencil onto the roof. The 'back walls' were covered in a mix of 6x6 European Grand Tour Mixed Media Papers and some paper painted with Raven Black Metallic Paint and stamped in the gesso with one of the Teeny Backgrounds. I also added one of the Word Blocks #1 to another piece of the Raven Black painted paper.

To add some age to the house I then dripped dilute Pheasant Bronze and Kingfisher Blue Metallic Paints over it, allowing the paint to run onto all the surfaces. Then it was time to add the 'treasures'. I stuck to bits and bobs that fitted with the main colour scheme so it wouldn't look too messy.

Die cut and stencilled flowers and leaves were coloured with the same metallic paints as before and scattered throughout the house.

In the eaves of the house I added a paper clay moulded piece that had a mix of the Pheasant Bronze and Gold Metallic Paint run through it to highlight the details.

Further moulded pieces, chipboard shapes and die cuts were added, again altered using the four metallic paints. There are some fantastic Mod Podge moulds in stock at IndigoBlu which can be used with moulding clays and the new Diamond Resin too.

I had great fun altering this little house frame and finding the bits and bobs that could go inside it, and hope it's given you some ideas for altering one of your own.

Today we are entering the moth of love. February is also the Heart Disease awareness month in many countries around the world. Since I work as a nurse specialising in Heart Intensive Care  I wanted to celebrate February by making a canvas with a heart as the focus.

I have used a chunky canvas that I first painted with white GeeSso Good gesso and then covered with strips of a paper from the Cartography A6 Mixed Media Paper Pad.

I cut out a heart by hand from a piece of white card stock, painted it with Postbox Red paint and then before the paint was dry I applied Black GeeSso Good gesso - the end result was a brown-red almost rust like finish.

The pattern was made by using Mega Flakes (Eaton Mess) and the new texture stamp from the Teeny Background stamp set. The alphas were also painted with Copper Metallic paint and then when dry I just dabbed on some Flitter Glu on and applied Mega Flakes. Love how they turned out!

I dabbed FlitterGlu and added flakes on the edges of the canvas as well.

Creating a little texture fun with Beck BT

Hi Everyone, it's Beck Beattie here today to share with you a scrapbook page I created using the most divine new rubber stamps full of texture and fun!!  I just adore the new 'Teeny Backgrounds' and 'Tasty Textures' sets!  They are just so versatile.  I am on holidays at the moment and decided to create a page with a picture taken while away.  There is only so much you can take a way with you when you are creating, but my IndigoBlu texture stamps are definitely a must have!

Here I created a page using two of the textures from the stamp sets, teamed up with some watercolor, stamping, and fun embellishments.  To finish off the texture I added some natural chipboard pieces working perfectly with the feel of the page and of course some soft twine to bring the focus to the subject in the photo, my gorgeous boy.

I was creating this fun page while watching the kids over a the playground!  Nothing like a little multi-tasking!  With a few items you can create anywhere!

Lost in Thought - Layout

Hi Folks, Georgie here today and I have a layout to share. Firstly, check out the picture... isn't she beautiful? IndigoBlu are releasing some vintage/olde-worlde style mixed media pictures called Lost Family. Perfect for scrapbookers!! The thing with old style photos/pictures is that they are so versatile and allows the user to take on any colour combination or style of layout that they wish. They work with everything!!!

So many new releases for stamps plus other bits coming up from IndigoBlu - seriously you won't want to miss them... Here is what I used in this layout and what you can look out for:

• 'Colour This Peony' stamp
• 'Teeny Backgrounds' stamp set
• 'Textures' Stencil (available now!)
• 'Lost Family' focal pictures

Here's a close up of the gorgeous picture;

Hmmm... where do I start here :) ... Stencils, that's a good place!! The squares were made using the new 'Textures' stencil and IndigoBlu Texture Paste. Such a great little stencil with so much to choose from on it. The paint is Cinderella, a shimmery, metallic fuchsia pink, but watered down and spritzed to create a watercolour bleed effect - pretty darn good for an acrylic posing as a watercolour. 

Just a little close up of some of the items used it the layout. You can, seriously, use anything near enough, to do a mixed media layout. I'm not talking bricks, but brick dust, perhaps? Okay should have gone with another example, but you can, buttons, twine, thread, nuts and bolts, cutlery, old packaging boxes. The trick with these kind of layouts is using your stamps to act as an extension of your layout, to soften the focus between the 'bits' and the paper behind. So... fancy giving something like this a go??? Any questions do ask and I will always be happy to help.

Lady Heart

Hi there, it's Kay. Can't believe it's nearly Christmas, but I'm taking a break and sharing this heart panel to show some of the new Mixed Media Papers being released to trade at the beginning of 2016.  

I'm loving these new papers and unable to decide which are my favourites, but the Lost Family and Arts and Crafts After Morris sets are front runners!

The heart shaped panel was first painted with black Gee-SsoGood then covered with Townhouse Teal paint, blended with a little SleepingBeauty paint. Interest was added by stamping Teeny Backgrounds with FlitterGlu and applying Chocolate Box Mega Flakes and stamping one of the Tasty Textures stamps with Peppermint Tea paint.

I coloured the glamorous lady from the Lost Family paper set with Copic markers and now it looks just like a old fashioned tinted photo! The edges have been lightly distressed and covered with  more Mega Flakes. The script is from the Tasty Textures stamp set and helps to add a little more glitz.  

Flower shapes and patterns from the Arts and Crafts After Morris 12x12 Mixed Media Paper pad were cut out, given a wash of Snow White paint then layered to frame the lady.   

I had such fun making this panel. Talking of fun, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
