Princess Unicorn

Hello, it is Cec here and today I am bringing you some inspiration using the wonderful new unicorn stamp called Jewel.  I am calling this canvas Princess Unicorn because I think it looks like something that would make a very girly little princess very happy.

I started by taking an 8" x 8" canvas and covering it with Gesso.  Then I added some texture paste through the new Stars stencil.

The next step was add a bunch of bits and pieces - lace, buttons, flowers, a couple of air-dried clay embellishments, a metal charm and medallion along with some wooden words and shapes.  This is a perfect time to grab things that have been cluttering up your craft room or to do some recycling.  After everything was glued down, I gave it another coat of Gesso to unify the colour.

Next I gave everything a coat of Pink Iced Gem Acrylic Paint.  Once dry I mixed some Pink Luscious powder with water and painted it randomly on the canvas letting it settle wherever it wanted to.  I also mixed some Silver Luscious powder with water and painted some of the stars.

I stamped Jewel onto a panel of card stock using Jet Black Archival Ink and did some wonky stitching around the outside with my sewing machine.  I coloured Jewel with a couple of grey Prismacolor pencil crayons blended with Odorless Mineral Spirits and then mixed some Pink Luscious Powder with Golden Self Levelling Clear Gel and painted her mane, tail, horn and the hair on her legs.

After I distressed around the outside of the panel with my scissors I inked the edges with some Tim Holtz Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  It is probably difficult to see in the photo but I added a ruffle of baby pink tulle to the back of the panel along the top and down the right side and then I added some pale pink gems from the dollar store.

Finally I altered some more flower and button sets with the Pink Iced Gem paint and Pink Luscious powder mixed with water and added them along the left of the panel.  I also tucked a few more gems on the panel and in among the bits and pieces.

I think this very girlie canvas shows how magical Jewel is - hope you like it too.
